Currently the commonest surgical procedures include:
• Circumcision; this is one of the ART project programs

• Surgical toilet and suturing; this is because the frequent road traffic accidents
• Herniorrhaphy and herniotomy

• Incision and drainage; this is mainly because of immune suppression
• Exprolatory laparotomy; most of the cases we fine perforation in the terminal ileum mainly due to typhoid
ith an aid of a contrast media e.g. barium sulphate.

Barium follow through:

  • The examination of the small bowel (duodenum, jejunum, ileum) using the aid of a contrast media.
  • Hysterosalpingography (HSG): The radiological examination of the uterus and fallopian tubes with an aid of a water soluble contrast    media.
  • Cystourethrography (CUG): The radiological examination of the urinary bladder and urethra with the aid of a water soluble contrast agent.
  • Abdominal ultrasound scan: The examination of abdominal organs with the use of high frequency sound (ultrasound) technology.
  • Pelvic ultrasound scan: examination of the pelvic organs using ultrasonography technology. This is sometimes referred to as gynecology scan.
  • Obstetric ultrasound scan: This involves all radiological assessments of the pregnancy using ultrasonography.
  • Small parts ultrasound scan: This covers the scan of the thyroid gland, breasts, scrotum and body swellings.
